Ah, Halloween. One of the most cherished and spooky holidays. Actually, it’s THE spooky holiday, isn’t it? The time when we get to dress up as someone other than ourselves for a day and indulge in the sweeter side of life. Candy. I’m talking about candy. As the leaves begin to change and the temperature cools we take it upon ourselves to find ways to celebrate, either with children or without them, the aforementioned changing of the seasons and the chill in the air. One thing we’re always doing is looking for new and exciting ways to celebrate. The era of the house party is long behind us and, completely understandably, some parents are just not comfortable with their children going house to house to trick or treat. So that leaves us at a crossroads, what to do for Halloween? Have no fear. BowlDogs, once again, has got you covered.

Firstly, how convenient that Halloween falls on a Friday this year. That’s right, on October 31st, everyone will be dressing up as their favorite ghosts and ghouls and taking to the streets in their search for candy. The college students will be filling the streets of downtown Iowa City singing drunken medleys and laughing with friends. And your friends at BowlDogs? We’ll be at the lanes, of course, ready with candy and drinks in hand. Oh, and having a little shindig of our own.

Imagine this, costumes as far as the eye can see. Balloons, candy, drinks, jokes, and all 16 lanes of BowlDogs occupied with little vampires and skeletons. Now that will be a sight to see. Of course, everyone needs to wear bowling shoes for safety so make sure your costumes don’t include shoes. Not only that but there will be raffles and prizes as well; not to mention a costume contest taking place at 7pm sharp, that leaves plenty of time to take the kids trick or treating – if you choose to partake in that tradition – while the sun is still up and warming the earth before the real fun at the bowling alley begins. Just what kinds of raffles will be taking place this night? And what about the prizes? I guess you’re just going to have to come and see, I can’t give everything away. Rest assured, however, that your little ones will love any prize they get their hands on.

The main event of the night, however, will be a 9 pin tournament. Though it would be fun to have a tournament of dinosaurs and mummies and whatever else people want to dress up as, we understand that bowling a tournament in uncomfortable attire may be a little difficult. Our hopes are still high, however, that our friends will arrive in the holiday spirit ready to take down the pins. Who knows what will happen on the lanes, all we know is that the competition will be on and this will be one tournament you won’t want to miss. Overall, Halloween on the Lanes is going to be a graveyard smash and we can’t wait to see you there… if you dare.
